Places to See & Things to Do - Fort Walton Beach

Fort Walton Beach
Heritage Highlights
The Indian Temple Mound Museum, 139 Miracle Strip Pkwy., adjacent to the Temple Mound in the historic downtown area of Fort Walton Beach, was the first city-owned museum in Florida. The Temple Mound, a National Historic Landmark, is an Indian earthwork used as a ceremonial and burial site more than 1,000 years ago, and the Museum is recognized for having the finest collection of prehistoric ceramics in the Southeast United States. Phone: (850) 833-9595.
Heritage in this coastal area naturally includes the sea, and Florida's Gulfarium, on Miracle Strip Parkway, is the perfect place to experience the wonders of the ocean while staying on dry land. Located on several acres of Gulf of Mexico beach front, the Gulfarium is the oldest continuously operated marine show aquarium in the entire world! The Gulfarium is home to a variety of animals. Attractions include four live marine shows, an indoor, air-conditioned Living Sea Theatre, the Sea Lion Show and much more. Phone: (850) 243-9046 or (800) 247-8575.
Culture Quest
The stretch of Highway 98 between Pensacola and Fort Walton is known as "Antiques Alley" because of the antique shops dotting the roadside. Stop at your leisure to browse through linens, architectural garden gates, restored mantels and a variety of porcelain treasures.
